It’s been a long association with
#LokhandwalaPremierLeague #LPLYUVA
I recall its inception with a casual mention from Girish Chopra and it completely struck a chord with me. There’s been no looking back ever since.
Paresh Shetty n his team have abilities to pull off such events with elan.
A whooping 80 matches !! 4 categories,20 housing societies, 40 teams, 600 players !!!! The event has grown so enormous and they managed the scaling up so well. The teams are looking better balanced n have witnessed the quality of the game improve drastically.
My conviction in sport has been inculcated early on,
“One team sport and one individual sport – equips you with all the life skills u need” my uncle would advise.
N i recall a completely baffled teacher who was reprimanding me as my 8-9 yr old Josh didn’t complete his homework. “U give too much of it, his playtime gets encroached upon” had been my honest defence. I preach what I practice 🙂 I keep telling all parents – let the kids play !! Childhood belongs to playgrounds. No matter how big and mighty their academic achievements will be – health is essential n games forge it.
Team games teach kids to suffer for others’ mistakes and yet forgive. To move on and know the next game can change it. Individual sport makes them reflect on areas of improvement. It’s the need of the hour for mental health.
The league is inspiring the 20+ gen into actually playing the game and sweating it out instead of simply catching up over beer n at the sports bars to watch matches. It compels one to get into a #physical_fitness mode, promotes bonding and #KnowYourNeighbor at the township
